The Dark Matters
White Rabbit, Sydney
March 8, 2017 - July 30, 2017
Lin Yan is included in the group exhibition The Dark Matters at White Rabbit, Sydney. White Rabbit remains as one of the world's largest collection of contemporary Chinese art, and continues to host exhibitions displaying acquisitions from their collection. The Dark Matters is a predominantly monochromatic show, which presents 33 works from contemporary Chinese artists.
Lin Yan's presented work, Sky 2, uses xuan paper dyed with Chinese black ink to form a large cloud. Illustrating China's battles with smog and air pollution, Sky 2 draws a reference to the perpetual dark fog that hangs over the densely populated cities of the country.
Other participating artists include: Yang Yongliang, Haung Wenying, Gao Ge, and Yang Mushi, among others. The exhibition was curated by White Rabbit curator David Williams. For more information on the exhibition and the White Rabbit collection, click here.
